In addition to raising charitable funds and opportunities for positive conversations and education, the main goal of this project is to raise awareness to the racial inequality that surrounds us. To continue to spread not only the word about this project, but also awareness and sharing the result of our interactions through this wooden piece of art, we are following up with everyone who joins our project to request a picture of them with their new sign (family, kids, and pets make these even more fun). These pictures are being used on social media posts and added to the BLM Sign Gallery section of this site so we can track our progress. Thank you for sharing your best shots :)
We will split of the net proceeds between two prominent and trustworthy anti-racism organizations namely while also considering local official Nonprofits whose work focus is the promotion of racial equality:
Founded in 1909 in response to the ongoing violence against Black people around the country, the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) is the largest and most pre-eminent civil rights organization in the nation. We have over 2,200 units and branches across the nation, along with well over 2M activists. Our mission is to secure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights in order to eliminate race-based discrimination and ensure the health and well-being of all persons.
Objectives
To ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of all citizens
To achieve equality of rights and eliminate race prejudice among the citizens of the United States
To remove all barriers of racial discrimination through democratic processes
To seek enactment and enforcement of federal, state, and local laws securing civil rights
To inform the public of the adverse effects of racial discrimination and to seek its elimination
To educate persons as to their constitutional rights and to take all lawful action to secure the exercise thereof, and to take any other lawful action in furtherance of these objectives, consistent with the NAACP’s Articles of Incorporation and this Constitution.
Color Of Change is the nation’s largest online racial justice organization. They help people respond effectively to injustice in the world around us. As a national online force driven by 1.7 million members, they move decision-makers in corporations and government to create a more human and less hostile world for Black people in America.
We welcome the chance to have a conversation with you regarding an organization that you are passionate about that supports Racial Justice efforts! If you have one in mind, send us an email at cyblmproject@gmail.com to begin this dialogue and share your thoughts on why the CYBLM Project should financially support it!
